The Downtown area has recently been undergoing fabulous renovations. Many places have been restored, and new places have been built. Despite the change, places like Belhaven, Fondren, and Eastover have stayed true to their roots over the past few years. Belhaven's Association holds the Saturday Summer Market Days. Fondren is steadily growing as a fine art and shopping community but still continues to have its antique charm.

When moving to Jackson, you can enjoy anything from a ballet or orchestral performance to the largest professional arts organization, the Mississippi Museum of Art, displaying more than 3,000 works. There are several historical sites and museums located in Jackson as well. Places such as the home of Eudora Welty, Medgar Evers' home, the Governor's Mansion, the Museum of Natural Science, Mississippi Old Capitol Museum, and the Manship House Museum are a few.

Jackson is also home to one of the top 10 "Most Amazing Baseball Museums in America," as named by ESPN: the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum.
